11 November- 2nd Home vs Wellington 3

BY BALLSY

Having lost Barracuda and Geoff to the first team, morale was higher than ever, but there was a nagging fear it may have weaken the order.

Ballsy was up first at 2 and despite having getting over Covid as a go to excuse, a mature and quality performance saw him sail through 3-1 winner.

Phil was on at the same time - didn't see any of it but a close 3-2 loss. Close but no cigar.

On next was Jose and James. I marked Jose, so I can tell you he grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory. 2-1 and 6-2 up and then lost 9 points in a row to move to a decider. Could have gone either way but 15-13 in the last. Will Jose ever consider a one handed backhand?

Did not see any of James' match but by all accounts it was a good contest until James ran out of puff. 3-1 loss and match lost.

Avon up last against wily South African Brian. As they were taking too long we all left and went for curry. Avon tells us he won 3-2 but who knows.

As we got to curry house late, they made us eat drink and pay in about 10 mins total. Decent banter though as we learned all South Africans know each other.

Good effort all round and friendly opposition (apart from one complaint about how far away curry house is).

Will Geoff and Barracuda get their places back?
