RUSC Tournament 2022

Intro

Welcome to the RUSC Internal Tournament, players of 2022.

This year the club is doing something a little different, and holding the internal tournament instead of the usual box leagues.

This means that for the next 6 weeks you will need to play at least 3 of your tournament matches, with the 4th match or "finals" being played by all of the tournament players on Saturday the 28th of May to decide your final finishing position. (This is not compulsory, if you cannot make this date, you must just arrange your final match before this date).

Tournament Details

The tournament is arranged into three grades, A, B and C. And your starting draw is based on your ranking (if you are top 8 in your grade) or a random draw if you are bottom 8. To see how the draw worked, have a look at the template located here.

The tournament will run as a "MONRAD" system or draw. This means that ALL players will be playing, regardless of a result, 4 matches, with their final match providing their final position in their grade.

England Squash define a MONRAD tournament draw as " A monrad draw is a multi-match draw format whereby all players continue to play, win or lose through to a final finishing position."

So to think about each round, when completed means that winners will always play winners in the next round, and losers will play losers. Another way to think about it is a tournament, and several plates running all at the same time!

Playing your matches

The "top" player in each match is responsible for arranging the match, when we say top, we don't mean top ranking player, but the literal top name in each rounds draw box.

The scoring is the same as the box leagues, point per rally to 15 per game, best of 5 games. Please send your results, along with the date and time via email to the league admin email address - admin<at>rusquash.co.uk (replace the <a> with an @).

You are welcome to ask for a marker, and one of the committee members will step in and mark on the day, or find a reliable marker for you. Again, please contact the league admin if you would like one.

Any disputes, please contact James Mathers, or the League admin, or anyone in the committee, and we will try to help.

Cut-off times

To move the tournament along you are expected to play each round in a timely manner. Each round has a date limit, if you have not shown due effort to play by then, walkovers will be given on a case by case basis, based on circumstances (Exceptions with advance warning can of course be made). The limits are as follows:

Round 1: Thursday the 28th of April

Round 2: Sunday the 8th of May

Round 3: Wednesday the 18th of May

Round 4: FINALS Day Saturday the 28th of May

Finals Day and Social Event

We hope the majority of you can play your final match on FINALS DAY - the 28th of May. This will mean your match will have spectators, bants and support. We will then be going out on the evening for a meal and some fun.
